The Invisible Jet
These days we seem mired in the pragmatics of looking for solutions to our many challenges – as consumers, as citizens, as cohabitants of the planet, as people. So much more the reason that we must remember to dream. Big if possible. And every once in a while, really, really big.
So it is in that spirit of the impossible dream that I wanted to share these recently released renderings in which French aerospace company Airbus Industries imagines public flight in the year 2050. Seemingly drawn straight from the Wonder Woman playbook, this bit of proto-fantasy – seats that mold to your body shape, a 360-degree panoramic gallery and mid-air golf – seems oddly within reach given the speed at which technology seems to be developing. While the neo-organic design and dumbfounding implications for materials enhancements are a totally separate reason for putting some thoughts together for a post, right now I think it is enough to soak up these images of a real life invisible jet. Here’s to the self-validating merits of ‘why not?’
