This week we’ve already heard many grumblings that summer is over. People aren’t just saying that it’s coming to an end but that it’s over & that’s simply not true. In our books we still have plenty of good summer days left. Up in these parts the water doesn’t reach its peak until mid-September. It’s this time of year where (at least in New England) the weather is perfect & the local farm food is at it’s best! This drink perfectly compliments any summer outing or craving you might have until fall is officially here. It’s easily made for an individual or in a pitcher. In our case we made a batch in our pitcher and served it in our Issi small tumblers. This drink would easily do for brunch as well! The SoNo Sunrise is penned for the gorgeous South Norwalk (SoNo) sunrises.
1/4 cup pink grapefruit
1.5 oz vodka
1 tsp pomegranate liqueur
1 tsp simple sugar
juice of 1/4 lime
1 wedge of grapefruit for garnish
swirl a slice of grapefruit over the rim of each glass, dip in salt, fill with ice & set aside
combine ingredients in a cocktail pitcher, stir & pour
garnish with grapefruit wedge
