Feather Sculpture

Kate MccGwire is a London based artist who is doing some pretty interesting things with feathers. She creates beautiful undulating forms with them, many of her works are reminiscent of mobius strips and other infinite, flowing forms. The first image (above) is one of my favorites, the way the feathers spill up and out of the old stove and pool onto the floor is really beautiful. Kate has a genius way of using the iridescent shine and color of the feathers to create mesmerizing swirls of color and texture in her work.

Interior designer Kate Ridder recently released a book titled “Kate Ridder: Rooms” the book features images of the gorgeous, colorful rooms she has created in her career. Kate utilizes color in a unique and fearless way. We agree with Kate, color is awesome, that’s why we have colored tumblers! Silly Dogs

I love these hilarious dog photos by Portland, OR based photographer Carli Davidson. She’s captured a variety of different pooches shaking themselves vigorously. It’s odd to see such a normal animal motion captured like this, the dogs’ faces are distorted to the point of abstraction, some of them barely look like dogs. Alan Sailer likes to blow things up. He’s also a photographer. Alan has been photographing the objects in his garage as they are shot with a pellet rifle, he even built his own high speed flash to capture the perfect moment when, apples, pieces of china, blobs of clay, and Christmas ornaments are shattered beyond recognition. Alan’s amazing work had been quietly residing on Flickr until early 2009 when someone posted one of his images on a social media site. From then on his photography has been sought after and admired by various publications and views around the internet. It’s easy to see why, the photos are beautiful. See more on Alan’s Flickr

Unique Fruit Bowls

These fruit bowls by Dutch designer Rogier Martens redefine what it means to be a bowl. Instead of creating a bowl and then placing fruit in it Rogier has used fruit to help form the bowl. The hand bowl bowls are pressed over piles of fruit while the glass is hot so that it forms to the shape of the fruit it will later hold. The production video is defiantly worth watching, the process of making these bowls is really cool. See it here! And check out more of Rogier’s work.
