Transforming Wood
While thumbing through a couple of great design sites I recently found the work of Elisa Strozyk and was immediately drawn to her work. I’m such a sucker for finely made wood objects and she has the knack for making you believe she’s working with some other material pushing the boundaries of what wood will do. Many of her her sensual designs attach wood to fabric aiding in the flexibility. Although a few pieces introduce color most rely on the natural variation of the wood to produce pattern & visual interest.
Elisa also plays with the translucency of maple veneer in addition to the fabric that she’s designed to create amazing large scale lighting.

In her “accordion collection” she’s teamed up with artist Sebastian Neeb. Again she’s made the wood take on a textile-like feel resulting in a new experience of the material wood”. These pieces are a bit more sculptural yet maintain the sensual quality of her other textile pieces.
Without going on and on I highly recommend going to her site and getting lost in her beautiful designs.
